Currently on view at American Contemporary, New York is “The Cardboard Lover,” a group exhibition that explores how cultural objects reflect the subjective experiences and objective styles produced by the late capitalist organization of labor. The works featured in The Cardboard Lover variously assume the vernacular of the “zany” aesthetic. This exhibition encourages a reorganized mode of engaging with the object, in which its participation in forms, behaviors, or discourses of strain, excess, risk, desire, and duration are foregrounded.  “The Cardboard Lover” features works by Alisa Baremboym, Peter Brock, Alex Da Corte, Aleksandra Domanovic, Joel Holmberg, and Owen Kydd.

“The Cardboard Lover” is on view through February 16th, 2014.
